We have done six annual 5K races, and we love to do them! They are fun and energetic, and get the community involved in our mission. This year though, I wasn't sure. Are they overdone? Are there too many 5Ks? Our timing service left, so it certainly isn't as convenient....

Mr. Danny, phenomenal handyman, and general angel here on earth, built us some more custom shelving for The Helping House. If you know me, you know I like my stuff organized and neat, and these shelves are doing exactly that! My husband Daniel was helping him put the shelves in our classroom today, and they noticed that the shelves didn't run parallel to the wall. Now, Mr. Danny is a perfectionist, so we knew it wasn't the shelves. The walls in our 80 year old house are out of square! I love our old house, and I wouldn't trade these old crooked walls for sharp and shiny. I love the character of the unpredictable.

Crowdfunding seems to be the way to go these days for quick fundraising with a far reach. The internet and social media make spreading the word instantaneous. Gofundme and other sites readily populate Facebook newsfeed, and it seems like there is all the money in the world out there if you know how to ask.

This morning, between picking up popsicles for water play and fighting off some ants on the playground, I walked through the school during circle time. Four kids were sitting on the carpet with Mr. Thomas, their eyes trained on him. “Do you wanna sing Take Me Out to the Ballpark with me?”
